Ages 3 to 5 years                 15 Weeks

45-minute classes, Adult (& siblings) attend last 15 min.

Imagine That! takes you and your child on a musical journey of discovery and exploration…a journey limited only  by the power of imagination. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, movement and literature to capture your child’s potential to learn and to encourage cognitive and literacy skills, creativity and individuality.

Kindermusik Imagine That! is designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative 3- and 4-year-olds and encourages socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities. Singing becomes a focus for enhancing the preschooler's vocal development as her expressive language is just beginning to emerge. Parents are invited to participate in the last 15 minutes for Sharing Time of the 45-minute class. Home materials inspire musical activities as a family all week long.

WHAT WILL WE DO IN CLASS AND WHY?

Singing fosters the development of your child's most important instrument, the voice, through vocal exploration, songs, and chants.

Moving develops body awareness, coordination, and spatial relationships through synchronized movement, creative movement, and simple dances.

Playing introduces a variety of musical timbres with percussion instruments such as drums, maracas, guiros, resonator bars, and instruments your child creates at home.

Creating stimulates your child's imagination and encourages new exploration with sound and movement.

Patterning boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language.

Listening cultivates your child's heightened attentiveness to sound discrimination.

Exploring timbre, dynamics, tempo, and pitch lays the foundation for conceptualization of the elements of music.

NEW This Semester:

"Hello Weather, Let's Play Together "

"Hello Weather, Let's Play Together"  explores sunshine, rain, snow, thunder- storms and more in this imaginative and delightful weather-related musical adventure. Whether creating storm sounds on a drum or throwing pretend snowballs, children and their families are encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the world around them. Imagine That!

Many songs have been specially selected or composed to encourage vocal development. Concepts and thematic activities have been carefully created. In addition, storytelling is incorporated to encourage literacy skills. And listening skills will be developed far beyond simply listening to an isolated sound. In short, there’s never before been a single early childhood program designed to maximize learning by providing so many valuable and important developmental skills and benefits.

Research shows that more imaginative, pretend play scenarios help a child's language and literacy development. Some scientists even say pretend play helps children smile more, provides a critical link to developing a logical and creative thought process, and helps children grow up to be better problem solvers.

Introducing an exceptional curriculum for the
 3- and 4-year-old child

"Hey, Mom… Look at me, I’m flying!"

For the 3- and 4-year-old child, imagination is everything. He’ll tie a blanket around his neck and fly like a superhero…crawl around the living room and growl like a tiger…gallop on a broomstick horse…or use a cardboard box to build a castle. Resourcefulness and creativity abound thanks to his burgeoning imagination.

While the basis of Imagine That! is founded in the integration of music and imagination, the program’s development is the direct result of a shift in the educational research that been conducted over the past 10 years. This research confirms that pre-school age children thrive on participatory, expressive learning. Their language skills are exploding, beyond mere labeling with words. They want to talk about what they are thinking and feeling…they are ready to choose preferences, and make comparisons and predictions.

Through extensive research, numerous parent focus groups and ongoing consultations with early childhood experts, Kindermusik International was guided and inspired to produce an exceptional educational opportunity that addresses an area never before fully tapped by a musical learning curriculum…the pre-school child’s unique affinity to learn through pretend play.

Imagine That! takes a giant step beyond preschool music programs, and allows us – and you – to capture the child’s attention, nurture the budding creativity and individuality, and enhance the overall learning process. This is accomplished through a remarkable blend of music, singing, movement, literature and imagination.

Imagine That! encourages and strengthens your child's exciting new relationship to the world. Kindermusik uses music to encourage early learning and creativity. Music is the means, not the goal. The goal is a more alive, creative, and able child. Kindermusik matches the child's place.
