Imagine
That! takes you and your child on a musical journey of discovery and
exploration…a journey limited only by the power of
imagination. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal
development, storytelling, movement and literature to capture your child’s
potential to learn and to encourage cognitive and literacy skills, creativity
and individuality.
Kindermusik Imagine That! is designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative 3- and 4-year-olds and encourages socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities. Singing becomes a focus for enhancing the preschooler's vocal development as her expressive language is just beginning to emerge. Parents are invited to participate in the last 15 minutes for Sharing Time of the 45-minute class. Home materials inspire musical activities as a family all week long.

WHAT WILL WE DO IN CLASS AND WHY? |
|
Singing fosters the development of your child's most important instrument, the voice, through vocal exploration, songs, and chants. |
| Exploring timbre, dynamics, tempo, and pitch lays the foundation for conceptualization of the elements of music. |
| Playing with percussion instruments such as drums, maracas, guiros, resonator bars, and instruments your child creates at home introduces a variety of musical timbres, plus introduces ensemble group playing. |
|
Moving develops body awareness, coordination, and spatial relationships through synchronized movement, creative movement, and simple dances. |
|
Creating stimulates your child's imagination and encourages new exploration with sound, movement and artwork. |
|
Patterning boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language. |
|
Listening cultivates your child's heightened attentiveness to sound discrimination. |
|
"Toys I Make, Trips I Take" Toys I Make, Trips I Take leads the child on a magical journey into a remarkable Toy Shop filled with boats, trains, balls, jack-in-the-box and many other toys that bring a glimmer into a child's eyes. While some events may start in the toy shop, they may end on a tropical island, sailing off in that toy boat to a faraway land or taking the toy train over mountains and valleys, singing all the way!
Research shows that more imaginative, pretend play scenarios help a child's language and literacy development. Some scientists even say pretend play helps children smile more, provides a critical link to developing a logical and creative thought process, and helps children grow up to be better problem solvers. For the 3- and 4-year-old child,
imagination is everything. He’ll tie a blanket around his neck and fly
like a superhero…crawl around the living room and growl like a
tiger…gallop on a broomstick horse…or use a cardboard box to build a
castle. Resourcefulness and creativity abound thanks to his burgeoning
imagination. |
